Sod it, it's time to get The Crew. £13.99 has to be worth it.
"Woe betide any game that deviates - ico, second sight, psychonauts or system shock would get as badly trashed if they released today as say order 1886 or beyond two souls"
You must, must, know that's completely untrue. The indie scene has never been as innovative, exciting, popular or highly acclaimed as it is now. Innovative games get praised to the high heavens even as we look back on the most exciting and left-field games of yesteryear.
Stop...
Have you tried it in stereoscopic 3D? You might be surprised at how much more detail you'll be able to pick out.
Yeah, it's an absolute beast. Same here, still so much more to craft - and I've just got into the bow after several years of hating it, so spending hours crafting all the elemental varieties! Can't wait for Capcom to start deploying the extra quests and DLC too, it's going to run for yonks.
I dug on MH3U, but would be interested to hear what you didn't like (neither agreed nor disagreed FYI). Horses for courses I suppose.
@bggriffiths: I'd suggest paying out for Delta. It's so much better, and you can transfer your progress over!
@ChronoJoe: Yeah, Toukiden deserves more attention! I bought it on a whim and was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it, plus the art direction is superb. Totally agree in terms of the challenge curve too, there's much less of a skill floor to smash through before you can start having fun.
The more I think about it, though, the more I don't think Freedom Wars is trying to be Monster Hunter. The structure is similar but the game is more narrative-driven, even if the narrative ultimately means nothing and is one of the worst parts of the game (hell, you can clock down to 0 and it still makes no difference!).
Sorry for double post, I wasn't able to edit this into my last comment!
More to the point, Monster Hunter is awesome and MH4U is ma...
Heh, it would play brilliantly on Vita. There are a couple of decent clones -- I'd recommend Ragnarok Odyssey ACE and Toukiden -- and the brilliant Soul Sacrifice Delta is a monster all of its own, but Freedom Wars was a letdown I agree.
Feel your pain though. I actually came into this series on the PSP.
Great move. Just an utterly superb move. Everybody wins.
@Saijahn: I actually think it's a shame you've got so many disagrees. The last year has taught us that games can and do disappoint, that publishers lie and that plenty of sites hype like there's no tomorrow.
But... Bloodborne, though. The gamescom floor demo was great. The beta was great. Sony actually let us play the damn thing and considering From Software's pedigree, I am SO READY.
No argument here. Dumb policy is dumb. And stuck in an era when digital indie games were just starting to release on consoles. And restrictive. And actively incentivising developers to focus on platforms that are easier to develop for.
Did I mention dumb? It's dumb.
@MasterCornholio: Oh, I agree 100%. The fact that ID@Xbox basically have to subvert their own company's policy to do their job and bring us games shows that the system is completely broken!
I've used Base before, they're generally reliable. Never ordered through their Rakuten marketplace though, so fingers crossed for ya!
Yeah, I feel like ID@Xbox are doing their best to work *around* a silly process put in place by upper management who don't really 'get' what grass roots development is like.
And getting results, good on 'em! We get more to play, and Microsoft needs to wake up and smell the coffee since there are a few gaps to fill this year (before what looks like an epic Christmas!).
Whereas Sony are letting them on quibble free(ish, certification can be a nightmare), which provides the PS4 with real breadth of software.
Seriously, Xbox 360 premiered Xbox Live Indie Games and actually brought downloadable indie games to consoles for the first time. It's embarrassing to see Microsoft stuck in the past now, even if ID@Xbox are doing their damndest to work around the larger company's idiotic system!
Always great to see ID@Xbox working directly with devs, though they shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops IMO.
Heh, now I want to watch Big Daddy again.
Yup. Bring it on.
I actually prefer the New 3DS to the XL. More practical, comfortable (for those without massive hands) and the cover plates are ace. Shame about the battery life though.
Can we please agree on how to spell the sarcastic trombone sound? In my mind its "bwaaaa bwaaaaaaa."
Still, yeah, Bungie should have called this the "actually a full game edition". Will be good value - I did enjoy Destiny, though House Of Wolves will need to be exceptional to pull me back.
